Constructed in the 1920s, the Lindblom Math & Science Academy was selected as the Region 5 College Preparatory Academy for the City of Chicago. Chicago Public Schools dedicated over $30 million to a Major Capital Renovation (MCR) to provide a state-of-the-art educational facility. Tishman Construction served as Construction Manager for the renovation of the 330,000-square-foot Lindblom High School in Chicago.
The school was originally built in 1919. The first phase of the project involved window and door replacement, as well as ADA compliance work such as ramps, reconfigured restrooms and Braille signage. Mechanical and electrical upgrades were undertaken to provide air conditioning to all areas of the school, including a new chilled water system, cooling coils, ducted return systems, mechanical exhaust, generator, transformer and new DDC controls. Tishman Construction also oversaw the installation of new interior finishes, lighting systems and newly landscaped grounds.
BauerLatoza Studio worked as the Managing Architect to develop the overall school program, phased scope of work, construction budget, and to oversee the comprehensive renovation design for this 330,000-square foot building. BauerLatoza Studio then provided Architect of Record Services for Phases II through IV for the interior and exterior renovation. Highlights of that scope of work include:
